Behind the Shot: Joe Alusma Brings Cinematic Storytelling to Southwest Florida Real Estate

In real estate, the listing photos are often the first showing. Joe Alusma understands that better than most. As the founder of Alusma Property Media, he has turned a lifelong passion for visual storytelling into a business built around one idea: a property deserves to be seen at its best before a buyer ever walks through the door.

Visual Storytelling for Listings

Alusma Property Media is a real estate photography and videography company serving agents, brokers, homeowners, and property professionals throughout Southwest Florida, including Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, and Fort Myers. Its work spans professional HDR photography, cinematic property videos, aerial drone photography, and video content designed for listing platforms and social media.

The approach blends creative vision with production discipline. Alusma pairs professional equipment and creative storytelling with attention to detail and reliable turnaround times, including a 24-hour turnaround on photos. The aim is content that captures a home’s best features, communicates its value, and leaves a lasting impression in a crowded market.

“First impressions matter,” Alusma wrote in describing the problem he solves, “and poor-quality visuals can cause a property to get overlooked before a potential buyer ever schedules a showing.”

Filming the Making-Of

One of the more distinctive parts of Alusma’s brand is how openly he shows his process. He shares behind-the-scenes videos of his real estate shoots on social media, filmed through his Meta smart glasses. The point-of-view footage lets followers see what actually goes into capturing a property and gives them a real look at what it’s like to work in real estate photography and videography.

For agents deciding who to trust with their listings, that transparency doubles as a portfolio. For aspiring creators, it is a window into a field many people only see the finished product of. Alusma plans to expand that content and use it to share his journey as an entrepreneur.

An Unexpected Path to the Camera

Alusma did not start out in media. Born and raised in Naples, Florida, he spent seven years in law enforcement, including two years as a street gang detective. Photography and videography were passions he kept up on the side throughout that career.

In May 2026, he retired from law enforcement to pursue a new chapter. As a husband and father, he wanted work that would let him provide for his family without putting his life at risk. Launching Alusma Property Media let him turn his creative passion into his livelihood.

He credits his years in uniform with shaping the way he works now. Law enforcement, he says, taught him discipline, accountability, attention to detail, and the importance of earning people’s trust, all of which he brings to every client and every property.

What Comes Next

Alusma’s plans center on growth and craft. He wants to expand throughout Southwest Florida, build strong relationships with real estate agents and brokerages, and become a trusted name in real estate photography and videography. He intends to keep investing in professional equipment and improving his skills.

Longer term, he hopes to teach and train others how to get started in real estate media, develop their skills, and build businesses of their own.

Advice for Creators and Founders

For anyone thinking about turning a passion into a business, Alusma’s advice is grounded and practical. Trust the process, stay disciplined, and never lose sight of why you started. Building a business takes patience, consistency, and a willingness to learn from mistakes. Step outside your comfort zone, surround yourself with people who support your vision, and focus on real value rather than quick success.

“Don’t underestimate the experiences you’ve been through or the skills you’ve developed along the way,” he wrote. “Your story can become one of your greatest strengths.”
